Public Service Announcement

My Public Service Announcement to the world !!! This was the absolute most fun assignment I was involved in, I got a chance to discuss the upcoming events on campus and give insight into what type of job and activity I would be promoting. In my scenario, it was the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Ambassadorship role that I obtained this school year! In the video, I enlightened the students on 3 different forums and events. On November 12, 2022, I had a seminar making students from commuters and on-campus students aware of this event, telling them times to meet. Which would be from 11 - 2 on Wednesday. Also, an open forum on Friday, November 14, 2022, at 6:00 to give more information on scholarships and such. To give a background on the program so you can understand my PSA here is a brief synopsis that you will see in the video. TMCF is the largest non - profit organization that serves as the voice and exclusively represents publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Predominately Black Institutions. Through scholarships, capacity building and research initiatives, innovative programs, internships, professional development, and strategic partnerships, TMCF aims to prepare the next generation of diverse workforce talent. Since 1987 the Thurgood Marshall College Fund @tmcf_hbcu has provided of 300 million dollars in assistance to students and its school members. Supporting Historically black college and universities is essential to our success as a people an obtain a level better than BLACKWALLSTREET! With that being said I am proud to announce that I am a @tmcf Yard Ambassador and Influencer ! ðŸ’¼ðŸ–¤ At THE ILLUSTRIOUS South Carolina State University ! At the end of my video I was able to take you back to give you a time when I traveled with the TMCF program to Washington, DC for a major immersion trip. This gives you a better visual insight into what the organization represents and how you can get involved, times, events, and growth.

Creative Lighting !

The creative lighting assignment was very interesting to me because it really has an insight into dermatology lol! You were able to change the lighting and exam the constructor of the subject's face, based on what light was shown. Also, you get to focus on different parts of the face and see how it changes based on each angle.

The first one is setting up the layout for the next pictures. It also gives you an understanding of what the subject/model looks like with raw light from a flat frontal view. The lighting focuses on the model's face and it produces very little depth and contrast. The image is very neutral, with true consistent lighting.

The second image is very interesting because it always creates an image to me like the view moon. You get to see part of the subject and the other side slightly gets lost in the abyss. The correct term for what is being shown here is split lighting and the key/main light is 90 degrees and symmetrically eye level with the subject. This effect could be used in movies or pictures where you are trying to create a dramatic approach.

In this picture, we have an example of Rembrandt or 45-degree lighting. In the photo, you can see the model's nose creates a shadow on the face and emphasizes one area more than the other. The picture is set from a high point facing downwards from the subject. It's 45 degrees from the main subject and the other is a fill light that glares off the back right. You can see it as the hair flare's up and has an emphasis on that area.

The last image is my favorite and the most creative! This is the picture we classify as scary because the light is focused on the chin traveling up the model's face. The strobe/lamp light is below and put emphasis on. We cut the majority of the light in the surrounding area giving it a darker effect so the spotlight was more or less focused on the subject.

Three Point Lighting !

This assignment was so interactive and creative. We were tasked to use the Three-point Lighting method. This method would consist of three different special types of lights. The fill light, backlight, and key light. Each light is imperative and it plays an important role when it comes to photography, especially studio photography. I had my classmate Essence model as the subject. She sat on the stool and placed him on the studio.

This photo is a wide shot photo with no lights turned on. All 3 lights are off, the only light entering the room is the natural light from the outside windows. It causes a slight blurryness in the photo and looses up the sharpness.

This photo is in between a full wide shot and a close up. It has no additional lighting except the natural lighting shing from the window. This is why you see that on the right side her face shines lighter and the left is darkened. The window is on the right side.

This is a close up shot and profile view. The key and back lights were turned on during this picture. This is also a mid range shot. As you can see the right side of the picture which is slightly covered is dark.

This is a close up shot with the key light and fill light turned on. It clearly covers her entire face giving her a shadow in the background. It's close enough to see how the light shines in a glowing manner.

Here's another wide shot photo the subject/model Essence. In this frame the backlight was turned on, key light, and the fill light as well. You can see a different angle of her and how the light reflects on her.

The final photo is another in between shot of the subject. All 3 lights were turned on in this frame, it gives a deception of a focus feature. There is a shadow in the back as well.

Working With Reflector Disk

For this assignment, we were tasked with using a reflector disk to see the difference in the lighting based on the outside natural light and how it affected everything when using and not using the reflector disk. We had a chance to bring our Reporter, Sharlene Luke to be the main subject. We wanted to test the difference in the lighting using the reflector disk and also without it to see the changes.

Here is an image of a wide shot of the reporter, reflector disk, and videographer showing how everyone is positioned. You can clearly see the entire layout of the camera, reflector, and much more.

This is a shot from behind the camera showing how the camera is positioned for the reporter. It gives an effect that looks like portrait mode photography focusing the lense on the camera and Sharlene being the background. You can see the full aesthetics of the layout.

This view and angle it is behind the reflector, this angle is showing how the sun is reflecting off of the disk onto Sharlene and her skin. In this picture, you can see how the disk is positioned to get the right amount of light on the reporter's face. It's difficult to see but, Sylvester Brown is holding the reflector disk.

This is a perfect close shot of the reflector disk, shining off of our reporter. If you can tell, there is more of a highlight and glare on the reporter's face!

Here's another wide-shot view of another group who shot at the same time.

Here's a full view shot of they're posting, enjoy!

Action Sequence !

For this assignment I was able to shoot myself the subject as my classmate Benjamin Gadson looked, to show what a couple of shots and angles can do. You can see me leaving the classroom, grabbing a drink of water, walking down the stairs, in the elevator and beyond. It's a unique video as it incorporates different angles and movements from myself, enjoy!

5 Question Interview with Amauri Allen and Chasity Gilmore !

For this assignment, I was interviewed by my classmates SC State students, Chasity Gilmore and Amauri Allen. In this specific instance, I was the interview guest. They asked me very thought-provoking questions and after we changed different camera angles to see how reactions play a major part in how the angles come together. I talk about how I am a Communications going into motivational speaking and poetry. I liked how Amauri picked questions such as what made me come to SC State, so it could prompt other questions and extend my response because I have a plethora of reasons why I wanted to be a bulldog. Chasity changed angles while I worked on editing and changing the layout of where the camera was placed to be put on different sides of my face to gain different effects. I was able to use two shots, Amauri as interview headshots, and reverse questions and listening shots with myself as the main subject. Editing these images and pixels together. I recorded the opening and closing parts which were good and flowed into the video really well. We even had the camera behind the host and I, while the camera was on the classic interview shot, facing the guest.

Person On The Street !

This semester has not too long started and we have the largest class of freshmen in SC State's history. I assumed that even upper-class students were looking forward to Halloween and Homecoming and athletes are looking forward to the football games with smooth vibes and atmosphere. For this project, I went around campus to interview about 10 different students to get insight on what they were most looking forward to with us being 5 weeks into the semester. During interviews, most students are looking for the homecoming game, homecoming itself, and the football season itself. Also Halloween as the party's, festivities, and unique, as well as, scary outfit's comeout the fun comes with it ! Listen in to how student's prepare for the fun season's !
